I'm just me... a single mom with a great kid in college, graphic designer, somewhat Bohemian-esque child of the 60's, casual fine artist, rabid amateur photographer, vegetarian-friendly (tho I do still eat things with faces), sailor, music-lover, latent political activist, fun-loving middle aged travel junkie, beer connoisseur and a 23-year recovering Iowan.

Ah... Iowa... "A Place To Grow" (state motto). It's a faraway, exotic land... well, exotic in that most people have never been there, and few even know where it is. It's a curious place where I was once known as "Oinker" (and I wasn't even a chubby child... it was a last name rhyming thing) ... I'll muse on Iowa-ness more as this blog evolves. The Hawkeye state has definitely had a role in defining my character.

After living in Texas, then Florida for the last half of my life, I recently relocated to the most amazingly beautiful & hip town in the world - Asheville, NC.  Yes, the mountains at last!! With liberal bumper stickers & organic food & microbreweries abounding! Nirvana!

I've convinced myself that life is an adventure! As the wise sage once said, "If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space!"... okay, that was actually from a beer koozie... whatever.
