Funny day... I knew Barack Obama was speaking at Asheville HS today, but figured the crowds would be impossible and it would take up too much valuable work time, bla bla bla... then around noon I spoke to my friend, J who was already in line for the rally with her husband, K. She told me that the line was moving quickly and that the whole thing wasn't the huge hassle that many had expected. So I enlisted friend Z and his zippy motorcycle (to avoid the potential parking nightmares) and we made a rather last-minute dash to the rally.

I'm so glad we did. It was absolutely electrifying! I felt like I was in the presence of greatness and thought perhaps this is how people felt when they saw JFK speak in the 60's... wow. Not only was Obama incredibly charismatic and inspiring, but the crowd was equally soul-stirring. You could feel it in the air - we were all there together reveling in the thought that perhaps this incredible, intelligent and inspiring person could actually be our president. What a treat! A president who is NOT a sub-moron or psychotic asshole! Wow!
