I'm a "she" - really

What a hoot! I just accidentally stumbled across a Nov. 22 article on the MountainXpress Blog that I had missed before which said, "With the election over, most bloggers have settled down to regular human activity, with the exception of Recovering Iowan, and even he has found something new to obsess on. "

OK - first, I'm truly humbled and amazed that my silly little blog would even be noticed by a MountainX blogger... there are so many "really" good blogs around here, and I'm such a half-assed blogger that I never really expect much in the way of readership or notice in any way. So that was really quite cool!

However, the "he" part made me revisit my blog header graphics... all the photos feature me looking very butch, don't they? Gee, maybe it's because I DO look butch! Go figure! I did grow up in small-town Iowa with mostly all boys, and was the classic little tomboy... I guess you can take the girl out of the country, bla bla bla.

The good part is I'm totally fine with that. I tried the longer hair and the more "girly" look a couple years ago at the beginning of my midlife crisis. After a few months, I realized that long hair and girly look maintenance was just way too much trouble and time-consuming. So I got my hair all whacked off again, returned to my sweatshirts and jeans and fleece-lined Croakies and have been much more "at ease" about my appearance ever since.

Now the "obsess" thing... ok, maybe I do get obsessive about some things - maybe even a lot of things. Is that bad? Oh no... now I'm going to start obsessing on being obsessive... aaaaaghhhhh! ("definitely K-Mart... definitely K-Mart... Judge Wapner comes on at five... Judge Wapner comes on at five...")

But, again - I'm honored that MountainX gave me the little shout-out anyway. Thanks, Blogger-Brian! (insert butch belch here)

yes, that's me... in the early 60's when the idea of girls playing football was just silly
